A friend and I had a great conversation today about clutter and our struggles to bring order to our houses. She recommended the site
FlyLady so I've signed up and I'll see how it goes. The idea of being able to see the surface of things really appeals. I'll let you know how it goes.

Bother! Your post is the third thing that pushes me towards doing something about my junk...I'll write something later today, I think, and then begin a serious decluttering process here. Not sure about flylady...She reads as very transatlantic, and though clutter is clutter wherever it overwhelms you, I'm not sure that all her suggestions re solutions will translate fully. Only one way to find out, though. Oh dear...
:-)
glad to know I have more kindred souls out there struggling with the same issue. Every time I move I seem to get more storage space rather than get rid of junk. The worst was when I opened a box and discovered it was recycling from two years earlier.
God bless you in your attempts to find order!
happy de-cluttering! It's a spiritual discipline in my view, in fact I once even preached about it.
I've been thinking about this Sunday's gospel in light of this actually - about traveling light and not relying on acquiring mountains of stuff. In my case it is mountains of paper.
Hi Erin
Eventually I'll be caught up on your blog. :-)
I've been aiming towards a simple, de-cluttered life for three years now. Its a painful process. I don't care for the Fly Lady, myself. I don't like her telling me to put my shoes on in the house. That just feels too wierd. Instead of shoes, I prefer to put Bon Jovi on, or another cd of quick paced music -- from the 80s of course -- to keep me moving through the messes. As for web resources, I LOVE the message boards on organizedhome.com for all of the members' wonderful ideas on decluttering... but it is yet another distraction. Look for me there as Mycatsdontshed. ;-)
...Pam
